Somehow I haven’t been to the beautiful Ucluelet & Tofino area as a West Coaster? It was absolutely beyond stunning, and I am sure glad I am only in my 30s to go there over and over and over. When my buddy and often second photographer Katee asked me to photograph her day at the most gorgeous resort in Ucluelet (Black Rock Resort), it was an easy YES! Little did we know that even though it is 30 degrees at home, you hop on that ferry and shouldn’t have bothered to pack that entire suitcase of tank tops, bathing suits and shorts. We got a LOT of use out of the hotels robes and towels to keep warm anywhere we went. The best part of the wedding day was how relaxed and unplanned it all was. Of course in the morning it was raining. Does it let up just in time for family photos and then for 1 hour so that we could do photos outside… why yes it does. The absolute entirety of our trip was spent wishing we had coats as it rained on. Joel and Katee you did it so right and it will be one of those days I just wont ever forget. Some day I might also have time to post pictures of our family adventures while out there, including playing with Sarah Mclachlan and her kids.
